Maia Sharp’s new album Change The Ending is the soulful amalgam of her diverse skills and rich experience. From the opening track, ‘Me After You,’ to ‘Standing Out In A Crowd,’ an anthemic ride up the road to confidence, to the album’s instrumental closer ‘Buy My Love (Remix)’ which features Maia’s tasteful saxophone playing, Sharp shows why so many industry heavyweights record her songs and sing her praises. The self-produced album features background vocals from her talented friends, the Rescue’s Adrianne Gonzales, Garrison Starr, Dawn Thomas and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Bonnie Raitt.
Her finest, most cohesive project to date features production by Craig Street and a virtuoso band including Chris Bruce, Meshell Ndegeocello, Jonathan Wilson, and David Garza. Special guests include Robert Plant, Ben Kweller, and Patty Griffin.
Born in Shreveport, Dylan moved to Muscle Shoals, Alabama when he was 11 and he is the dark horse of the vibrant and close-knit musical community there that includes Alabama Shakes, Secret Sisters, and Civil Wars to name a few.
Dylan’s songs however, are considerably darker than that of his Alabama counterparts. He says ‘I wasn’t conscious of a theme before I made it – I didn’t mean to, but I just happen to base a lot of my work on emotions – and at the time, they just happened to be negative ones.’
