A SOUND OF THUNDER – Out Of The Darkness

Bookmark and Share

A Sound of Thunder delivers timeless metal with a focus on melodic, memorable songs with a sardonic twist. Lead vocalist Nina Osegueda is a rare example of a metal front woman who delivers powerful, lung-busting performances more akin to Bruce Dickinson than Amy Lee.
The band combines traditional heavy metal with elements of modern power metal, ’60s and ’70s blues based proto-metal combined with prog-rock. Big, catchy riffs are accompanied by a rhythm section walking the line between classic groove and prog-power technicality with solos that recall the glory days of arena metal and lyrics run the gamut of sci-fi and fantasy to more personal, soul-searching topics.
Out Of The Darkness, produced by Kevin ‘131’ Gutierrez (Shinedown, While Heaven Wept, Deceased), is a refreshingly familiar dose of metal that would stand up as well in 1981 or 2021 as it does in 2012.

Kathy Sanborn – Sultry Night

Kathy Sanborn - Sultry Night

Sultry Night, the steamy new jazz MP3 album from singer, pianist, and composer Kathy Sanborn, released July 1, 2013, and is available for purchase through popular online outlets such as iTunes and Amazon. The CD version of Sultry Night debuts September 3, 2013.

Sultry Night is the fifth album from singer/composer Kathy Sanborn, who is known for her velvet voice and elegant piano artistry. Besides the smoky and seductive title track, Sanborn’s latest project includes songs honoring movie icon Cary Grant and jazz vocal legend Anita O’Day. Sultry Night includes both ballads and upbeat songs. Particularly engaging are the tunes “No More Storm” and “The Boys Are Back,” which feature cheerful melodies and optimistic lyrics. Sultry Night also features the heartfelt song, “Angels Cry,” which was penned by Sanborn in honor of the children who lost their lives in the Connecticut school tragedy.

JazzTimes says: “Romance is always in the air as far as Kathy Sanborn is concerned, and her songs are reflections of those emotions which take flight when overpowered by love.”

Sultry Night follows Sanborn’s critically acclaimed albums, Six Degrees of Cool and Blues for Breakfast. Both albums reached Amazon’s bestselling MP3 Vocal Jazz charts.

Mothlite – Dark Age

Dark Age

Mothlite is the brainchild of Daniel O’Sullivan. A prolific composer and multi-instrumentalist, O’Sullivan is a member of Ulver and a regular collaborator with Sunn O))), Guapo, ?thenor, Miracle and Grumbling Fur.
Mothlite allows him to move in different musical directions to those taken by his other projects, recalling the deepest remnants of 80’s sounds (Talk Talk, Japan, Cocteau Twins) and fusing it with an innovative, forward-thinking approach to programming and sound design. The result is a grandiose gothic-pop euphoria that retains a subliminally progressive musical depth.

Saga – 20/20

Finally reunited with their original singer Michael Sadler, the band is stronger than ever with their 20th release, 20/20, and it has all that it takes to become an instant progressive rock classic. The album features 10 brand new songs, never missing the distinctive sound of Saga’s legendary hits. The opener ‘Six Feet Under’ features a dominant keyboard sound, roaring guitars and a chorus you can’t get out of your head. Followed by the catchy, high energy driven ‘Anywhere You Wanna Go’. The emotional ballad ‘Lost For Words’ once again demonstrates Sadler’s incredible vocal range and charisma.
